With the new Prestige 15, MSI is wanting to win the affections of photographers, video editors, and other art professionals.

MSI Prestige 15

The company is hoping to seduce the creative professionals with its ultraportable, lightweight laptop, which is powered by a six-core, 10th-Gen Core i7 U-series processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU. The grainy webcam is slightly unimpressive and the sound quality of the laptop’s speakers is decent enough.

The MSI Prestige 15 has an elegant aluminum design. The laptop has a sandblasted and rich charcoal texture for a sleek and sophisticated vibe.

At 3.6 pounds and 14.4 x 9.2 x 0.6 inches, the laptop is very lightweight and portable laptop. In this form and factor, the MSI Prestige 15 beats laptops such as the HP Specter x360, Dell XPS 15, and the 16-inch MacBook Pro as well.

The inner lid is framed with super-slim bezels but the bottom chin has the thicker bezels. The large backlit keyboard is easy on the eyes and the jumbo-sized white letters and characters on the stone-colored keycaps provide a soothing visual experience.

The best part of the MSI Prestige 15 design is the 180-degree lay-flat hinge which allows the users to convert the laptop into collaboration mode. You can push the display all the way down to the surface, and press F12 to digitally flip the screen upside down.

Key travel is short which makes it feel comfortable while typing on this keyboard and won’t give any foreign feel. The space-bar is elongated and the 5.5 x 2.5-inch touchpad is beautifully responsive in terms fingertip sensitivity. The touchpad is also supported with Microsoft’s Precision drivers for Windows 10 gestures like the pinch-to-zoom and two-finger scrolling.

The MSI Prestige has a 15.6″ FHD (1920×1080), IPS-Level display variant and a 15.6″ UHD (3840×2160), IPS-Level variant. This 4K display will make anyone feel amazed, particularly with videos that feature vibrant, rich hues, such as the 4K YouTube nature content.

The display is definitely not the laptop’s main selling point, but the display is on par with some of the much higher-end laptops. It is not the best display but is one of the best for any midrange laptop.

The MSI Prestige 15 is paired with a 1.1-GHz Intel Core i7-10710U s Comet Lake processor with 32 GB of RAM which makes the Prestige 15’s multitasking capabilities very impressive. The RAM capacity on this laptop is DDR 4-2666 Memory Type, max 64 GB Max Capacity with 2 SO-DIMM Slot. It has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 With Max-Q Design, 4 GB GDDR5 for the graphics support.

For the storage, it has one M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3) and one M.2 SSD Combo slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA). Coming to the ports, the laptop offers two Type-C (USB3.2 Gen2 / DP / Thunderbolt3) with PD charging, two Type-A USB3.2 Gen2 and a Micro SD and a (4K @ 60Hz) HDMI. It also has one mic-in and one headphone-out combo jack.

The Prestige 15 has a 4-Cell Li-Polymer battery which roughly lasts for 7 hours and 55 minutes, which isn’t the best but considering its power-consuming vibrant 4K display, it’s not that bad.

For a laptop that has a vibrant 4K display all day, the Prestige 15’s battery life isn’t awful, however there are competing laptops that are much better.

Other Features

The Prestige 15’s speakers lacks that studio-quality fullness. The speaker grills are located on the bottom of the laptop, which may contribute to the mediocre vocal sounds.

The MSI Prestige 15 heats up quite considerably especially in the area above the function keys while multitasking heavier apps.

The Prestige 15’s 1080p camera lacked that crisp-and-clear detailed image quality however, the webcam offers excellent color vibrancy and it is well-saturated.

Pros and Cons

Pros Cons
Good battery life Webcam is not that great
Great performance Audio quality is mediocre
Luminous 4k display
Lightweight and attractive design

The MSI Prestige 15 starts at only $1,800 which is actually not that bad considering the features packed in it.

The laptop will come to cost around Rs. 1,30,000 in India and will probably cost around only Rs. 2,00,000 in Nepal, which is a great pricing laptop.
