After the long wait, the new Apple AirPods Pro has finally arrived in Nepal. The AirPods Pro is essentially considered one of the luxury tech items in the world of Apple users. The most popular headphones in the world have made some minor enhancements and added wireless charging for its second-generation AirPods this time around.
It’s been a while, but the AirPods Pro is finally here. They have a new design, new features, and a new price tag. The new AirPods Pro will be releasing this month (as of 8 Jan, 2020) which will be available via official stores like Evo store and Oliz Store.
The AirPods Pro has a completely new and improved design with a short neck and silicon tips for a more comfortable fit. Despite the mocking it has face regarding its design, the design is actually quite clean firm.
The previous earphone struggled staying in the ears, so Apple has listened to those problems by implementing the round silicone tips on the AirPods Pro.
Included in the pack are the silicone tips that come in three different sizes as per your comfort. When you first use the AirPods Pro, you are asked to take an “Ear Tip Fit Test” that makes sure that if these AirPods fit perfectly to your ears or not. The AirPods are sweat and water-resistant to some level which means that they can withstand splashes and light rain.
Audio performance is the best in the AirPods Pros. While listening to music, the vocals are clean and the bass is good. the audio is undoubtedly good but there are rooms for improvement.
AirPods Pros are a noticeable step up from the previous generation AirPods. The silicon seal in the ear tips makes the difference in improving bass performance, and the sound quality. Apple has pushed the “Active Noise Cancellation” to a whole new level. The Noise Cancellation or Transparency mode has a touch of enhancement audible in the vocals of some tracks and a slight comparative increase that’s most noticeable in the bass
Another reason the AirPods Pro sound better is because of the Adaptive EQ feature. Adaptive EQ also puts the inward-facing microphone to adjust the lows and mids frequencies based on the ear shape.
The Pros combine the directness that is inherent in the design with an open airiness so that the feeling of the sound being pumped directly into your brain is far less intense.
Battery life on the AirPods Pro is rate at 4.5 hours for when both noise cancellation and transparency modes are constantly activated. If both of them were to be kept off, they may provide almost five hours of battery life same as the AirPods. The case can provide enough battery storage for 24 hours of overall battery time with one full charge.
The case is fully compatible with any type of Qi wireless chargers. However, one downside is that the charging case still requires a lightning cable. The cable that’s included in the box is now USB-C on one side and lightning on the other, which could be annoying because you’ll need to bring this with you wherever you go.
Powering the whole experience in the AirPods Pros is the same H1 chip. The chip is renowned for enabling a flawless wireless performance and supremely quick pairing. The H1 chip also enables the AirPods Pros for Apple’s voice assistant, although Siri can also be activated by a pinch. The H1 chip also powers Active Noise cancellation and Adaptive EQ alongside.
It has 10 core audio drivers that deliver optimal performance. The Adaptive EQ helps to tune out the low and mid-range frequencies to the shape of your ears. It offers a rich and immersive listening experience.
The AirPods Pro is simple to connect to an iOS device, but the device will be needed to be updated to iOS 13.2 in order to connect. If the device is not up to date, a pop up on your device will appear telling you to update. Connecting is just like pairing with any other Apple audio product with the help of an H1 chip. A small card will pop up from the bottom and then all you have to do is press “Connect.”
If you’re using an Android or a Windows PC the process is a little different. Just long-press the button on the back of the charging case to enter Bluetooth pairing mode, and then search for it in the Bluetooth settings of your device. Once paired, everything is good to go.
1. Active noise cancellation
The newest thing about the AirPods Pro is that the design is centered around the noise cancellation feature. There are actually three modes of active noise cancellation feature. The “Noise Cancellation” blocks out all the exterior noise giving for a clearer audio. “The Transparency Mode” takes advantage of the vent system and passes certain noise within the earphone. Finally, the “On” mode but it simply the normal sound player mode.
2. Squeeze Controls
The squeeze controls take advantage of the Force Sensor built in the AirPods Pros. It is basically Quick squeeze to play, pause or answer calls, double squeeze to skip to the next track, triple squeeze to go back to the previous track and squeeze and hold to switch between noise-canceling and transparency modes.
Pros and Cons
|In-ear design allows for a secure fit||Very expensive|
|Better sound quality than its predecessor||Battery life is same as before|
|Noise cancellation very effective||Charges via lightning cable|
|Works flawlessly with iOS||Works poorly with software other than iOS|
Since the AirPods Pro are an Apple product, may people probably already estimate the higher price tag. These AirPods are definitely not cheap but the improvements and addition of new features make it somewhat worth the price. Apple introduced the AirPods Pro at a price tag of $249.
For most people, this will be a straight turn down. While the actual date for the launch for the AirPods Pros has not been confirmed yet, we can easily estimate the price of these wireless headphones to be no less than Rs. 35,000 – Rs. 40,000 in Nepal.
